Position Overview

The Engineering Co-op supports facility and infrastructure projects through AutoCAD drafting, structural assessments, project coordination, and technical documentation. This role provides hands‑on engineering experience while working closely with engineering, operations, and contractor partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a team member in supporting engineering projects and activities, this includes collecting data for program managers, coordinating specific tasks, and drawing on the principles of science, technology, and mathematics to assist in developing creative solutions.
  • Expedite the in‑house design of engineering projects and specifications of functional requirements of the project, as needed. Demonstrate increasing levels of ownership and responsibility for activities and projects as progression is made toward the final stages of co‑op.
  • Work closely with operations and engineering staff, as well as contractors/vendors (as needed), in planning and supporting engineering activities/projects, conducting structural assessments, data collection, drafting, gauging bids/estimates, AutoCAD assignments, etc.
  • Perform systems and information upkeep, and manage administrative duties such as drawings scanning, document handling and storage, and preparation of technical reports and summaries as dictated by stage of co‑op.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, or construction engineering
  • Sophomore standing required; junior or senior standing strongly preferred
  • 3.0 GPA or higher required
  • AutoCAD experience strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment
