Job summary

Hydrite Chemical Co. in Waterloo, Iowa, is seeking an Engineering Co-Op to gain practical experience on engineering projects while upholding Hydrite's Standards of Excellence.

The role requires students to take either the Spring or Fall 2027 semester off from classes to complete the co-op and enroll in a BS in Engineering (mechanical or chemical preferred). You will provide technical analyses, assist in capital projects and maintenance, and pursue process improvements; opportunities exist to

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; mechanical or chemical preferred.
• Strong computer skills; proficient with Word and Excel.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Power Point (or equivalent).
• Leadership skills preferred; may lead installation crews on capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical analysis for projects as assigned.
• Assist in implementation of capital projects and maintenance activities.
• Perform engineering clerical-type duties as assigned.
• Investigate and implement cost-saving improvements (waste, cycle-time, raw materials).
• Investigate and implement cycle-time improvements (batch/process throughput, cleanout, quality).
• Identify site energy reduction and sustainability opportunities.
• Collaborate with Hydrite departments to balance workload and support branch success.
