Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company in Jefferson City, MO, seeks a motivated Engineering Co-op for August 2026 through May 2027. You will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing, analytics, and process improvement while supporting production ramp and new product launches.

You will collaborate with engineering, operations, and continuous improvement teams to drive lean initiatives, optimize lines, and document SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an Industrial Engineering or related field degree.
  • Strong ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data.
  • Proficiency with Excel and statistical tools is preferred.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and methodologies.
  • Ability to map processes, perform root cause analysis, and drive improvements.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support new product launches with process setup and material preparation.
  • Assist production teams in assembly, wiring, and brazing tasks to streamline processes.
  • Lead improvement opportunities with lean teams for efficiency gains.
  • Analyze production data and validate material stock in SAP.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare project reports and document progress to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on CI initiatives.

Position Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Engineering Co-op to join our dynamic team for Modine manufacturing company at our Jefferson city, Missouri Plant for a 2 semester assignment, starting August 2026 through May 2027. As an Engineering Co-op, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and contribute to various projects aimed at optimizing our manufacturing processes, supporting our last time buy production, material management and enhancing operational efficiency per production needs. You will work closely with our Engineering, Operations and continuous improvement, assisting with data analysis, process improvement initiatives, and project management. This co-op position offers an excellent opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and develop essential skills in industrial engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on the new product launch for machine set up, process set up and material set up to support new product launch
  • Help the production team on assembly, brazing, wiring activities for getting the manufacturing process streamline on production
  • Collaborate with the lean operations, engineering and lean team to lead already identified project opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency enhancements.
  • Conduct material analysis, physical validation of material w.r.t SAP stock. Ensure clear to build for supporting ramp in production.
  • on-off shift to help provide engineering support and train the operators being moved into these areas as we ramp.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of process improvement strategies, including the design and layout of production lines, workstations, and material handling systems.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze production data and performance metrics to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives and support lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify the underlying causes of process inefficiencies or quality issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation of new equipment, technologies, and automation systems to enhance production capabilities.
  • Assist in the preparation of project reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings, recommendations, and project progress.
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Education & Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data.
  • Prior experience (1-2 years) in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in using statistical analysis tools and software (e.g., Advance Excel).
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of process improvement concepts, including process mapping, value stream analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software
