Job description

Overview

KPFF Los Angeles is always on the lookout for motivated and energetic experienced civil engineers. We continuously accept applications and review candidates for positions as they become available. Applications should include resume and cover letter. Candidates will work on a wide variety of interesting and collaborative projects with substantial growth opportunity.

Responsibilities

Work on a wide variety of civil engineering projects in collaboration with teams. Serve as a prime consultant to government clients for management and design of transportation, waterfront, site improvements, and major utility projects as part of KPFF’s civil group. Engage in site development activities including coordination with clients and stakeholders, design of site grading and drainage, and related tasks as part of dynamic teams with mentorship from senior staff.

Qualifications
  • Candidates must have at least five years of experience in site development, plus engineering, project management, and planning experience.
  • A B.S. degree or higher is required, along with a California P.E. license and a minimum of five years of experience.
  • Experience with sustainable design practices, meeting Low Impact Development (LID) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) goals, and proven ability to prepare SUSMPs, SWPPPs, and WQMPs.
  • Ability to visit job sites to inspect existing conditions and envision potential scope of work requirements.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time at a desk working on a computer and viewing a screen.
  • Ability to apply established engineering principles to solve problems using sound judgment, independent decision making, and prolonged focus.
  • Strong focus on client satisfaction with high-level communication and interpersonal skills; interest in training, developing, and supporting staff; experience working in a cooperative team environment.

Compensation

The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, and skills. The expected salary range for this position is $95,000 – $120,000, depending on education, experience, and licensure. We offer performance-based bonuses and will provide detailed information about the compensation package during the interview process.
