Within the areas described in the primary job function, completes assignments with limited supervision. Technician proceeds on their own initiative with limited supervision in compliance with policies, practices, and procedures prescribed by immediate supervisor. This position can be located in Bakersfield, Chico, San Jose or Torrance, CA.Essential Functions:With direction from an engineer or supervisor, creates construction level drawings in CAD. Apply knowledge of regulatory and Cal Water standards in creation of drawings.Work with other technicians to complete topographic surveys in the fieldUnder the guidance of an engineer or manager, revises standard drawings and details in CADPerforms calculations, such as meter sizing, crossing depths and preparation of forms for cost estimating, based on established guidelines.Conducts research on existing infrastructure using databases, maps, drawings, photos, and paper files, with supportCommunicate with Cal Water employees from other groups, departments, and districts to collect data, complete requests, and coordinate as necessaryOperates a provided company vehicle for travel to field locationsParticipates in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities to improve all aspects of the Company's operationsResponsible for personal safety at all timesProperly documents work and maintain records in databases and paper filesPerforms arithmetic based on established guidelinesSupports engineers, field staff and other technicians in completing field workOperates specific hardware such as large format printers and scannersVisits field sites to obtain data, measurements, and/or GPS coordinatesRecords ManagementFollows Cal Water standard procedures and processes to complete workPerforms work on-site in the assigned office locationPerforms other duties as assigned as appropriate for the classificationMinimum Qualifications:High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent.Valid California Class C Driver’s LicenseAdditional education or on-the-job experience in a related technical areaProficiency in all job related software and hardware.
