Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering support in transmission planning, maintenance, design, asset modeling, project management and construction/operations.
  • Applies engineering principles to solve problems and develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions.
  • Reviews/finalizes solutions with engineers/managers.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards (NERC/SERC) and utility regulations.
  • Supports storm/restoration efforts as needed.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

This position is within Transmission Configuration Management. This group works closely with Standards, Grids, Project Management and Construction, Capital Projects, Relay Settings, T-line Design, and Operations to maintain accurate Facility Ratings and database updates within the Asset Management System. Activities are related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration to support maintenance and compliance requirements.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs a wide variety of engineering support activities in Transmission-related areas such as planning, maintenance, design, asset modeling, project management and construction and operations.

Uses engineering/technical principles, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions, and improve products or services.

Works with Engineers and/or managers within respective departments to review/finalize solutions.

Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e. NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations as required.

With Engineer and/or management oversight, applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.

Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

2 or 4 year Associate/Technical Degree and minimum experience requirements.

Minimum experience required of the position

EA I: 5 years operational experience or minimum education requirements.

EA II: 2 years' technical experience and a Technical Degree, or 10 years operational experience or minimum education requirements.

Sr EA: 5 years of technical/design experience and Associate/Technical Degree, or 15 years operational experience.

Preferred:

Knowledge of Transmission line design.

Understanding of electric power flow.

Proficient technical expertise with computer software and database development.

Skills in engineering analysis, problem solving and condition assessment.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

Good leadership & interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.

Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.

Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.

Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.

Self-motivated and dependable team player.

Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
