Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Nuclear, Industrial, or related engineering discipline or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in industrial facilities (power, chemical, test facilities, nuclear, or high-reliability environments).
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising engineering and/or maintenance teams.
• Experience with maintenance program development and execution, including preventive and corrective maintenance and CMMS.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and regulatory compliance in operations.
• Experience with engineering change control, configuration management, and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and organizational skills across functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of engineers and maintenance technicians; set priorities and manage daily/weekly work.
• Own facility systems from an engineering and reliability standpoint, including design changes, upgrades, and configuration management.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all facility systems and equipment, leveraging a CMMS.
• Ensure a strong safety culture and compliance with codes, standards, permits, and TerraPower policies.
• Support facility commissioning, test setup, test campaigns, and post-test activities in coordination with operations and Natrium engineering.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and procedures.
• Lead or support root cause analyses, corrective actions, and reliability improvements to maximize equipment availability.
• Manage small to mid-size projects (capital and expense), including scope definition, estimates, schedules, and contractor oversight.
• Monitor and report performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Engineering and Maintenance Manager

The Engineering and Maintenance Manager – Test & Fill Facility is responsible for leading the engineering and maintenance functions at TerraPower's Natrium Test & Fill Facility in Wyoming. This role manages a small, multi-disciplinary team of 3–5 engineers and 6–7 maintenance personnel to ensure safe, reliable operation of facility systems and to support an aggressive test schedule for advanced nuclear and thermal systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of engineers and maintenance technicians; set priorities and manage daily/weekly work execution.
• Own facility systems from an engineering and reliability standpoint, including design changes, upgrades, and configuration management.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all facility systems and equipment, leveraging a CMMS.
• Ensure a strong safety culture and compliance with applicable codes, standards, permits, and TerraPower policies.
• Support facility commissioning, test setup, test campaigns, and post-test activities in coordination with operations and Natrium engineering.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and procedures.
• Lead or support root cause analyses, corrective actions, and reliability improvements to maximize equipment availability and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Manage small to mid-size projects (capital and expense), including scope definition, estimates, schedules, and contractor oversight.
• Monitor and report performance metrics (e.g., equipment reliability, maintenance backlog, safety performance) and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Nuclear, Industrial, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Approximately 8+ years of relevant experience in industrial facilities (e.g., power generation, chemical/process, test facilities, nuclear, or other high-reliability environments).
• Demonstrated experience leading or supervising engineering and/or maintenance teams in an operational setting.
• Proven experience with maintenance program development and execution, including preventive and corrective maintenance and use of a CMMS.
• Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and regulatory compliance in operations environments.
• Experience with engineering change control, configuration management, and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate across functions and disciplines.

Preferred

• Advanced degree in an engineering discipline or engineering management.
• Experience in nuclear, DOE, or other highly regulated environments; test or R&D facility experience is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
• Experience implementing reliability engineering methods and metrics (e.g., RCA, RCM, FMEA).
• Experience with commissioning and start-up of new or modified facilities.
• Familiarity with advanced reactor, energy storage, or thermal system technologies.

Salary Range: $134,629 - $179,505

Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Wyoming State.
