Job summary

Hunton Engineered Products (HEP) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to lead CAD efforts for HVAC products across new development and modifications. You will draft, design and document components, assemblies and layouts, while managing BOMs, revisions, and cross-functional coordination with engineering, operations and 3rd party partners.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years CAD design experience, HVAC knowledge, and proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor or AutoCAD. U.S.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Design or Engineering Technology (or related discipline) with 5+ years CAD design.
• HVAC knowledge with preference for commercial RTUs, DOAS and wall-mounted A/Cs (DX equipment).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD or similar software.
• US work authorization; no sponsorship available.
• Technical Bachelor’s degree is a plus; familiarity with standards (ASME/ANSI/ISO).
• Ability to influence and drive change; strong drafting standards knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for HVAC products.
• Maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
• Support new product development and modifications of existing equipment.
• Translate instructions into drawings and ensure GD&T and tolerances.

Hunton Engineered Products (HEP), a team within Hunton Services, is seeking to hire an experienced and driven Mechanical Designer to join our team. The Mechanical Designer is responsible for drafting, designing and documenting commercial and industrial HVAC products for both new product development (NPD) and modification of existing equipment for special use. This individual will join a new and exciting team as the CAD design lead with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations and 3rd party partners.Come work for an industry leader that has been recognized both locally and nationally as one of the Top Places to Work!Key Responsibilities:Develop and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for parts, assemblies and layouts of assigned HVAC products.Develop and maintain Bills of Material (BOM) and engineering documentation.Support new product development of innovative HVAC equipment as well as our modified equipment businessTranslate verbal and/or written instructions into drawings of HVAC products.Demonstrate working knowledge and manage change control, bills of material, product definition & selection, sheet metal fabrication, machine design, GD&T and tolerance analysis, electrical and electronics, piping, brazing and welding.Select mechanical components and materials to meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.Maintain proper document control and revision management.Manage project schedules for assigned projects.Qualifications:Associate’s Degree in Design or Engineering Technology (or related discipline) 5+ years work experience in CAD design is required; OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of an Associate’s DegreeStrong understanding of HVAC equipment with preference toward commercial RTUs, DOAS and wall-mounted A/Cs (DX equipment)Proficiency in design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similarNew product development (NPD) experienceMust have full work authorization in the US.
