Job summary

Columbus McKinnon in Sussex, WI seeks an experienced ETO electrical assembly lead to wire panels, install components, and ensure adherence to electrical codes. You will coach and develop a team, drive daily Gemba discussions, and coordinate with supervisors to meet on-time delivery targets.

You will also troubleshoot electrical issues, champion 5S goals, expedite orders, and partner with Facilities for in-house wiring. Safety and reliability are priorities in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman Electrician Card with 3+ years’ experience, or 10+ years as an industrial electrician.
• Lead experience preferred is an asset.
• Experience with Epicor ERP, SolidWorks or FactoryTalk is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example in ETO electrical assembly: panel wiring and component installs per applicable standards and codes.
• Drive task rotation and facilitate daily Gemba board discussions.
• Coordinate with Supervisor, Production Manager and other leads to achieve on-time delivery targets.
• Serve as primary trainer for ETO electrical assembly employees; assess skill gaps and create development plans.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues to restore quality and flow.
• Champion daily and weekly 5S goals; keep team aligned and accountable.
• Expedite orders and flex to assist other departments as demand shifts.
• Work safely to maintain an incident-free environment for the team.

You open the ETO electrical cell and lead a quick Gemba huddle. Priorities are set, task rotations are confirmed, and safety plus 5S standards are clear. You spend part of the morning hands-on - wiring panels, installing components, and double-checking against schematics and codes. A teammate flags an electrical fault; you diagnose it, coach through the fix, and capture the lesson for future training. After lunch, you sync with the Supervisor, Production Manager, and adjacent cells to keep on-time delivery on track. An urgent order comes in - you expedite, flex support across departments, and partner with Facilities for in-house wiring. Before close, you audit 5S, update the board, and plan tomorrow’s improvements.

What you will do

What you bring

• Proficiency with electrical tools and equipment (power tools, test instruments, and hand tools).
• Solid understanding of safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, electrical prints, and mechanical blueprints.
• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude; knowledge of high- and low-voltage wiring and gate logic.
• Working knowledge of proper ESD handling procedures.
• Clear communication, coaching mindset, and confident team leadership.
• Abstract/strategic thinking to solve undefined or ambiguous problems.
• Agility to reprioritize in response to changing work demands.
• Analytical, organized, and detail-oriented; basic computer literacy.

Required qualifications

• Able to safely lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs.; comfortable with physically demanding work (lifting, climbing, varied environments).
• Internal eligibility: candidates with two (2) or fewer "Inconsistent" ratings on their most recent performance review may proceed; three (3) or more "Inconsistent" ratings are not eligible; any "Unsatisfactory" rating is not eligible; no more than one (1) documented written warning in the past 12 months; candidates on a final attendance warning are not eligible.
