Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Test Engineer to provide solutions to complex electronics test systems. The role supports ETES test programs for naval carriers and interfaces with NAVSEA, SUPSHIP, and Ship's Force.

Candidates must hold ABET-recognized degrees and federal clearances, with proven project management and testing expertise across radar, aviation, video, and navigation systems. This full-time position requires on-site availability and willingness to travel to sea.

Qualifications

• ABET Bachelor's Degree or higher with required experience.
• Master's Degree with relevant experience or Ph.D. acceptable.
• U.S. citizenship required and Secret clearance; final clearance to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide solutions to technical problems of increasing complexity in electronics test electronics systems.
• Support successful completion of ETES test programs on Ford and Nimitz Class Carriers.
• Communicate with waterfront construction management, design engineering, test engineering, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA and Ship's Force.
• Report overall status to the supervisor.
• Review test issuance and completion status.
• Update the Test Plan of the Day.
• Provide system status and turnover.
• Identify and recommend resolutions for system and programmatic issues.
• Support E25 contract performance metrics including scheduling, budgeting and scoping.
• Coordinate with functional supervisors, construction and Ship's Force to conduct testing safely.
• Synthesize customer contractual needs into system test solutions within technical, schedule and cost constraints.
• Develop and direct comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules.
• Coordinate integrated testing activities.
• Review and evaluate test requirements for completeness.
• Perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare system-level evaluations

Requirements

• ABET Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience, or Master's Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience, or Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
• U.S. citizenship required
• Secret Level Security Clearance; final clearance required to start
• Extensive test experience in Radar, Aviation, Video and Navigation Systems
• Project management experience in test development, test coordination, resource planning, budgeting and test scheduling
• Expertise in planning and scoping using Change Order Log database
• Ability to communicate and interface with internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent writing skills for technical reports and final Engineering Reviews of test procedures
• Ability to evaluate problems and formulate recommended mitigating action plans
• Ability to ascend/descend vertical ladders spanning multiple decks, topside and within the ship
• Ability to go to sea during test trials
• Ability to work multiple shifts
• Knowledge of safety requirements and approved Ship Yard and NAVSEA procedures
