Qualifications

Role overview

This Feature Engineer position sits within a Systems Readiness and Performance team that bridges software development and real-world deployment for autonomous vehicles. The role supports a commercial driverless robotaxi launch by designing and improving AV features, validating autonomy stack behavior, and establishing system performance targets that satisfy a rigorous safety case.

Responsibilities

• Design new autonomous vehicle features and continuously improve existing features for enhanced performance and safety
• Collaborate with product, autonomy, operations, and safety teams to define desired vehicle behaviors and design targets
• Establish validation and verification suites across software integration, simulation, Hardware-in-the-Loop, and closed-course test tracks
• Build rigorous performance measures and automated checks for both controlled testing and in-service data monitoring
• Conduct thorough safety analysis on feature designs to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations
• Investigate root causes of issues observed during testing or on-road and recommend corrective actions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Autonomous Systems, Control Systems, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with at least one year of experience
• Strong technical writing skills to communicate root cause analysis, design goals, and verification objectives
• Demonstrated experience with systems engineering and safety analysis processes
• Pragmatic, results-oriented engineering mindset with a proven ability to drive complex projects to completion
• Hands-on experience with robotics validation testing including HIL, SIL, and integration software level testing

Nice to have

• Proficiency in programmatic data analysis and visualization using Python, SQL, or MATLAB
• Prior experience working directly on autonomous vehicles or advanced driver-assistance systems

• Estimated base salary range of $123,000-$163,500, with potential additional compensation in the form of bonus or company equity
