Job summary

Venture Global LNG, Houston-based engineer role, seeks a System Planning Engineer to support operational planning, system optimization, and expansion project modeling. You will collaborate across Pipeline Control, Operations, and Projects to drive reliable system performance and long-term business objectives.

Responsibilities include hydraulic modeling, expansion studies, and technical reporting. A BS in Engineering and strong communication skills are essential; experience with Synergi is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of fluid dynamics and gas pipeline hydraulics.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling for gas pipelines.

• Familiarity with DVNGL Synergi Gas Modeling Software is a plus.

Summary

The System Planning Engineer reports to the Director of System Planning. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Pipeline Control, Operations, and Project teams to support operational planning, system optimization, and expansion project modeling, ensuring sound technical decisions that enhance system performance, reliability, and long-term business objectives.

General Description Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform complex hydraulic modeling to support real-time operations and optimize system throughput, including steady-state and transient simulations
• Execute detailed expansion studies to identify facility alternatives and optimize designs for infrastructure growth and capacity increases
• Provide technical documentation and reports summarizing study results and recommendations for senior leadership
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams to ensure alignment between system planning and operational execution
• Collaborate with pipeline control, operations, and commercial functions to evaluate hydraulic impacts and help plan system outages
• Develop new tools and provide training and support to enhance the organization’s capabilities as it relates to hydraulic modeling
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of pipeline operations, system requirements, and the gas transmission project development process
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of fluid dynamics and gas pipeline hydraulics
• Hydraulic modeling experience for gas pipelines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical data into actionable business insights
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, high-growth environment

Preferred Experience

Experience with DVNGL Synergi Gas Modeling Software

Required Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Licensing & Certifications

Professional Engineering License is a plus
