REI Utility Services is seeking an Engineer – Substation to design and modify power system protection schemes, prepare engineering documentation, and support commissioning activities. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• FE or EIT certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in electric utility or power engineering performing engineering calculations and design work.
• Proficiency in CAD and electrical modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Design substation protection schemes and specify relays for use in redundant protection systems.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Perform protective relay coordination studies and program substation relays.
• Conduct short-circuits analysis and develop relay settings for electromechanical and microprocessor relays.
• Provide technical guidance to contractors, clients, and other engineers.
• Assist with commissioning of new equipment and troubleshoot existing facilities.
• Analyze fault events and prepare sequence-of-events reports.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Engineer is responsible for independently designing and modifying power system protection and automation schemes, preparing engineering documentation, and supporting commissioning activities. POSITION DETAILS

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Location: Hybrid / Remote

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Design substation protection schemes and specify relays for use in redundant protection systems.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
• Perform protective relay coordination studies and program substation relays.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of electric utility or power engineering experience performing engineering calculations and design work.

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position with an annual base salary range of $80,000 – $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The Engineer is eligible for performance-based bonuses paid biannually, subject to company policy and individual performance standards.
