Job summary

Williams invites a Technical Specialist Staff - Automation in Houston to lead automation projects across the enterprise. You will program, troubleshoot, train and commission sophisticated compression and process-control systems, while presenting findings to stakeholders and guiding teams.

We value initiative, independent work and team leadership, with a focus on safety. A high school diploma with 12+ years in gas or petrochemical is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma/GED and 12+ years of progressive experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PC skills.
• Solid knowledge of enterprise automation systems and software (AssetCentre).
• Experience with PLC, DCS and HMI programming.

Responsibilities

• Provide programming, troubleshooting, training and commissioning for automated systems.
• Deliver presentations to stakeholders and clients.
• Lead projects and coordinate costs and resources.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance and drive improvements.

As Technical Specialist Staff - Automation, you will provide programming, troubleshooting, training and commissioning services for sophisticated automated compression and process control systems throughout the enterprise. Confidence in presentation-making and the ability to work independently and as a team leader are vital in this role. Taking initiative, anticipating customer needs and crafting innovative solutions are keys to success!

Responsibilities/Expectations:

• Demonstrates technical expertise in automation for specialty, geographic area, or operational function
• Makes decisions and resolves unique issues within the broader function, company and industry standard methodologies
• Applies specialized knowledge in the efficient and effective completion of major projects while coordinating and controlling costs and resources associated with projects
• Prepares and delivers presentations
• Maintains a strong understanding of industry and operational requirements
• Interprets and anticipates internal and external business challenges and customer needs; improves products, processes or services and identifies solutions
• Collaborates with teams to ensure compliance, build improvement plans and meet training needs
• Serves as content lead and custodian for operations and maintenance requirements, guidelines and variance requests
• Supports technical security initiatives and hardware refreshes
• Supports approved manufacturer list for enterprise
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

Required: High school diploma/GED and minimum twelve (12) years of progressive experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry

Preferred: Bachelor's degree

Other Requirements:

• Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills
• Sophisticated knowledge in enterprise administration, maintenance, reporting and support for AssetCentre and other enterprise automation systems and software
• Solid understanding of programmable logic control, distributed control and human-machine interface systems and programming protocols for operations support
