Ignite Digital seeks a skilled Engineer/Scientist I to support a US Navy software maintenance initiative in the Norfolk, VA area. The role covers software development, testing, and system support to enable mission-critical Navy capabilities and joint operations.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, disciplined engineering practices, and a commitment to delivering innovative solutions for complex defense requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following fields: Engineering, Physics, Network Security, Information Systems, Computer Science.
- 1 year of experience in software development and maintenance including systems/equipment support and test/evaluation support.
- Experience with DoD DoW C4ISR, maintenance, logistics, or business systems is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support software development, maintenance, and engineering tasks across project efforts.
- Assist with systems and equipment support, troubleshooting, and sustainment.
- Contribute to test and evaluation activities, reporting, and documentation.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop, refine, and validate technical solutions.
- Apply engineering principles to support modeling, analysis, system assessments, and technical workflow improvement.
- Collaborate with government and contractor personnel to meet project objectives and timelines.

- Support software development, maintenance, and engineering tasks across project efforts

Candidates with software or computer‑focused degrees must be actively working toward one of the following within 18 months of assuming duties:
- Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)
- Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD)
- Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD)
- Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
- Sun Certified Professional (SCP)
- Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP)
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Certified SAFe/Agile Software Engineer
- Certified SAFe DevOps Practitioner
- Certified SAFe Architect
- AWS Foundational, Associate, or Professional certifications
- One (1) year of experience in software development and maintenance including:
- Systems/equipment support
- Test and evaluation support
- Experience with DoW C4ISR, maintenance, logistics, or business systems is strongly preferred, though relevant industry experience supporting complex solutions may be considered with COR approval.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance
- Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and collaborative mindset
- Ability to support complex engineering and software development tasks in a dynamic environment
Salary: $70k+ to align with education & experience
