Job summary

EssilorLuxottica is seeking a Quality Engineer to manage supplier quality within our global optics operations. You will establish quality criteria, plan and execute supplier-related quality programs, and drive improvements across our plastics manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include supplier surveys, PPAP-like processes, and collaboration with upper management to resolve quality issues. Travel to supplier facilities may be required to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science or in an Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering within a plastics manufacturing/processing environment
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g. mini-tab, etc.)
  • Solid product and manufacturing process knowledge with growth potential to lead small teams (2-3 people)
  • Good problem solver and can work independently to make important decisions
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Quality systems, Quality process controls, material performance testing
  • General understanding of Advanced Quality Planning, e.g. AIAG PPAP’s
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills and statistical methods (DOE, sampling, regression, reliability, FMEA, hypothesis testing)

  • Interface with upper management for important decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively with others.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

The Quality Engineer manages supplier quality.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works independently to establish quality criteria, plan for implementation, and execute quality plans for all products. Includes inspection planning (PPIP), sample approvals (FAS & LS) and training on requirements.
  • Completes supplier surveys and associated supplier approvals.
  • Implements required quality metrics and uses that data to address supplier improvement and concerns.
  • Effectively problem solves production issues as they arrive, related to materials, components, or packaging product.
  • Travels independently throughout the supply base to address issues and concerns, adjusting to different work environments at suppliers’ facilities.
  • Heads up efforts for nonconforming material review and corrective action assignment to the suppliers.
  • Supports the Supplier Quality Manager in carrying out higher level requirements and projects.
  • Interfaces with upper management and provides needed feedback for important decisions.
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with others.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in an Material Science or in an Engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering within a plastics manufacturing/processing environment

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification

Pay Range: $96,854.15 - $132,828.83
