Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. is seeking a Quality professional to support heat treat and pyrometry compliance under the guidance of the Manager Quality. The role focuses on ensuring adherence to regulatory, customer, and company quality system specifications.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least three years of related experience, and must be able to work on-site in Fontana, CA. ITAR restrictions apply, and sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Under the guidance of the Manager Quality, provides support to the Heat Treat and pyrometry compliance. Responsible for ensuring compliance to regulatory, customer and Company quality system specifications and requirements. Familiarity with customer quality systems, portals, document requirements, quality objectives, and customer quality initiatives.Interfaces with the designated customers as Howmet quality representative. Works directly with customers to define requirements and solve quality issues while maintaining excellent relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform internal compliance audits to AMS 2750 and applicable customer Heat Treat specifications
  • Assist in Nadcap and customer heat treat audits
  • Perform quality reviews of furnace Temperature Uniformity Survey (TUS) and System Accuracy Test (SAT)
  • Quality review and release of MRO/Supplies and Furnaces to production
  • Monitor and perform work at Fontana facility.
  • Update procedures to align with Nadcap and customer requirements
  • Train and certify heat treat personnel (furnace and hardness operations)
  • Trend chart furnace TUS/optical pyrometer performance
  • Review and disposition Furnace maintenance changes
  • Perform quality review of orders during contract review including purchase orders, specifications, blueprints, and other related documents.
  • Ensure compliance to FMI and customer quality system requirements
  • Complete all audits, forms, and reports as required by the customer
  • Ability to use quality tools to respond and resolve customer concerns
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

Minimum of three years related experience and/or training

Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with AMS 2750 Pyrometry a plus.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Must be able to read engineering drawings and specifications. Understanding of Metals and basic heat treat principles, gas fired furnace operations and maintenance, a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform conversion calculations (e.g. metric to inches, Celsius to Fahrenheit). Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to perform root cause analysis.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of statistical techniques, SPC

PAY RATE
