Job summary

Kennametal is seeking a Process Engineer to provide technical support in manufacturing operations at our US plant. The role emphasizes problem solving, CNC programming improvements, and standardizing processes to boost safety, quality, and efficiency.

The incumbent will lead lean initiatives, analyze data to reduce costs, and contribute to capital projects and new product development. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4-year technical degree or related manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering documentation.
• Working knowledge of CAD and Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated experience in creative problem solving and implementing corrective actions.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ability to properly define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions using standard problem solving and data analysis tools (5-Why, A3, 8D, DMAIC, etc.).
• Able to create, access and improve CNC programming to reduce Cycle Time and Cost.
• Develop, improve, and standardize manufacturing processes, including corresponding documentation supporting our safety, quality, and production systems.
• Provides leadership and assistance in implementing lean manufacturing methodologies throughout the plant.
• Analyzes data to determine and recommend changes in method, tooling, and equipment to reduce costs.
• Provides input on capital projects, engineering change processes, supplier quality corrective action reports, and new product development projects.
• Ability to manage multiple demands with a sense of urgency.
• Identifies and works to eliminate variability in standard manufacturing processes.
• Support process and equipment reliability.

• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
