DESCRIPTION
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Industrial Engineer / Principal Industrial Engineer – Master Production Scheduling (MPS) to support the Master Production Scheduling team within the Industrial Engineering Operations Management group (IEOM) on-site in Melbourne, FL. This role requires an on-site presence and up to 35% travel to Dayton, OH. Applicants must be willing to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, develop, and coordinate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to meet all objectives.
- Ensure manufacturing schedules are horizontally and vertically integrated.
- Implement scheduling best practices including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Critical Path Analysis, Schedule Risk Assessment (SRA), and related metrics.
- Analyze lead times, queue times, work‑in‑process, cycle times, and throughput to meet customer demand effectively and efficiently.
- Build scalable and sustainable models to optimize product flow while incorporating cost, schedule, and resource constraints.
- Develop optimized scheduling tools and align SAP/MRP systems with executable plans considering capacity constraints.
- Communicate requirements, planning, and systems framework with IT, ERP, business analytics, and data science teams.
- Work with developers to design an interactive user interface for scheduling jobs across cost centers.
- Guide digital transformation efforts to align with sector and enterprise strategies.
- Lead and drive positive change using iterative and agile methodologies.
- Create metrics and data visualizations to track performance.
- Provide weekly and monthly status reports.
- Track plans and schedules; create, maintain, and validate schedule data.
- Perform risk analysis and management.
- Identify and resolve critical path and network logic conflicts.
- Utilize Gantt, milestone charts, Earned Value Management (EVM), and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify variances.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic Qualifications (Level 2)
- Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a Master’s degree with no prior experience.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution System (MES), MRP/SAP/Oracle or related systems.
- Active DoD clearance required to start but not to apply.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) as required.
- Experience leading teams or projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel (macros and pivot tables).
- Data mining / data analysis experience.
- Principal Industrial Engineer (Level 3)
- Bachelor’s degree with 4 years of engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience; OR a Master’s degree with 3 years of experience; OR a PhD with no experience.
- Active DoD clearance required to start but not to apply.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) as required.
- Experience leading teams or projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel (macros and pivot tables).
- Data mining / data analysis experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Defense industry experience.
- Active Secret DOD clearance and Special Program Access.
- STEM degree.
- EVMS experience.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 4 years of demonstrated engineering, manufacturing, or data analysis experience.
- Experience improving manufacturing workflow utilizing Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies.
- Familiarity with mixed‑model manufacturing operations.
- Experience with agile project management or development methods.
- Strong experience designing visualizations in Tableau.

Salary ranges are $72,100 – $108,100 (Primary) and $89,400 – $134,200 (Secondary) with potential for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives for senior positions.
