Job summary

Santee Cooper is seeking a Senior Engineer/Engineer II–III to provide engineering support to generating stations with emphasis on chemical processes, SCR catalyst management, and cycle chemistry. The role includes budgeting, planning outages, and safety program oversight.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Engineering, PE/FE licenses per level, and relevant experience in boiler chemistry and chemical cleaning. Location is Moncks Corner, SC, with duties across fleet stations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• +8 years experience required for Sr. Engineer; +5 years for Engineer III; +2 years for Engineer II.
• Chemical Engineering preferred.
• PE license required for Sr. Engineer; FE/EIT license required for Engineer III; FE/EIT license preferred for Engineer II.

Responsibilities

• Verifies accuracy of condensate, feedwater, boiler water, steam, circulating water and make-up water analyses.
• Administers round robin program for Rainey, Winyah, and Cross laboratories to ensure accuracy of boiler chemistry procedures.
• Monitors condition of cycle chemistry and recommends action to restore recommended limits.
• Updates Boiler Chemistry Guidelines and Procedures Manual as necessary.
• Monitors and verifies online data acquisition software is accurate (ETA PRO).
• Assists generating stations with boiler chemical cleaning projects.
• Reviews tube assessment reports and monitors tube deposit weights for each unit.
• Schedules chemical cleanings as necessary and coordinates activities with planned maintenance schedule.
• Implements SCR Catalyst Management Program. Coordinates sampling and testing of catalyst layers, plans and budgets for catalyst actions.
• Procures materials and labor and coordinates with station engineers to execute catalyst actions during planned outages.
• During forced and planned outages, inspects deaerator, condenser (Hotwell and waterboxes), and steam drum and provides condition assessments and recommendations.
• Assists station Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) with radiation safety procedures and applicable radioactive materials regulations.
• Inspects coal sample systems annually to ensure they are working properly (Cross and Winyah). Updates sample ratio charts weekly and reviews topsize results monthly; notifies appropriate departments if deficiencies are discovered.
• Assists stations in troubleshooting activities to restore systems to proper working order. Schedules and assists with bias testing on a three‑year rotating schedule. Updates Coal Sampling Procedures Manual as necessary.
• Prepares requisitions, budget estimates, and other financial documentation for procurement of contract services.
