Job summary

Houston Engineering, Inc. in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a structural engineer to prepare detailed analyses, design projects with CAD designers, and coordinate with other civil disciplines.

You will work closely with teams to move structural concepts from initial ideas to final design. Responsibilities include attending meetings, managing contract administration and budgets, performing bridge inspections, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design and construction of structures.
  • ND Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain the license within 6 months required.
  • Experience operating MicroStation OpenRoads preferred (but not required).
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of project team roles and responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups both internally and externally.
  • SD PE License or ability to get within 6 months preferred
