Job summary

The Durst Organization seeks an Engineer for One World Trade Center at 285 Fulton St. First shift, 7:00AM–3:00PM, Tue–Sat with Sun/Mon off. Responsibilities include start-up, regulation, repair, and shutdown of equipment, along with monitoring, maintenance, and safety compliance across building systems.

Qualified candidates have 3–5 years in Class A high‑rise operations, BMS proficiency, DX/chiller experience, and relevant licenses (FMO, OSHA-10, COFs).

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years as operating engineer in Class A high-rise commercial building.
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently and promptly.
  • Working knowledge of BMS and control experience.
  • Knowledge of multi‑stage direct expansion (DX) water cooled packaged A/C units and modular chiller systems.
  • EPA Universal Certification; experience with steam/electrical systems and sprinkler standpipe systems.
  • Proficiency with pumping systems, steam heating, generators, ATS, diesel transfer, electrical systems, fire suppression, and high‑rise plumbing.
  • Knowledge of Schneider Electric Andover Continuum BATC or equivalent BMS; advanced startup procedures.
  • 3–5 years electrical experience: reading schematics, wiring diagrams; use of IR scanners and digital meters.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, lift 75 lbs, enter confined spaces, and use power tools.
  • Ability to work with odors, noise, dust, chemicals; OSHA-10 required for site access.

Responsibilities

  • In a safe manner, start up, regulate, repair, and shut down equipment.
  • Monitor meters, gauges, and computerized controls to ensure safe operation.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance from overhaul to replacing defective components.
  • Record events in the equipment log for traceability.
  • Audit safety devices and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Test and chemically treat hydronic systems to prevent corrosion.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Overview:

The Durst Organization is seeking an Engineer at One World Trade Center, located at 285 Fulton St.

1st Shift- 7:00AM-3:00PM, Tuesday-Saturday

Days off: Sunday & Monday

Pa y range: $47.71-$53.01

Responsibilities:

  • In a safe manner, start up, regulate, repair, and shut down equipment
  • Ensure equipment operates safely and within established limits by monitoring attached meters, gauges, and computerized controls
  • Use of hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance ranging from a complete overhaul to replacing defective valves, gaskets, or bearings in a safe manner
  • Record relevant events and facts concerning operation and maintenance in an equipment log
  • Audit safety device and identify and troubleshoot any problem areas
  • Test and chemically treat hydronic systems to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years as operating engineer in Class A high-rise commercial building
  • Possess the ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems in a timely manner.
  • Must possess working knowledge of BMS and have control experience
  • Must be knowledgeable of multi- stage direct expansion (DX) water cooled packaged A/C units and modular chiller system is a must
  • EPA Universal Certification; Experience with Steam and Electrical Systems and Sprinkler Standpipe System
  • Proficient in all aspects of pumping systems, steam heating systems, generator systems, automatic transfer switches, diesel fuel transfer systems, electrical systems, fire suppression systems and high-rise plumbing.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Schneider Electric Andover Continuum BATC system or its equivalent BMS and possess advanced knowledge of start-up procedures
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of electrical experience – that encompasses troubleshooting, reading schematics and wiring diagrams. Must possess ability to utilize analytic tools such as IR scanners, digital meters, and refrigerant gauges
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and lift to 75 lbs. on a regular basis, enter and operate in confined spaces, operate power tool
  • Ability to work with exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, or chemicals..
  • Valid New York City Fire Department Refrigeration Machine Operator License with a minimum of 3–5 years continuous experience in the industry.
  • Will be required to obtain several COF’s (A-35, F-01, P-98, G-60, S-12, S-14)
  • Site access requires completion of OSHA Construction Safety & Health Course (10 hours)
