Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Melbourne, FL is seeking an Engineer or Principal Engineer level RF Electronics Engineer to support development and integration of communications RF subsystems to meet mission objectives.

The role requires a STEM degree with 2+ years for Engineer or 5+ years for Principal, active Top Secret clearance, and experience in CEM antenna analysis, RF component design, system engineering methods and supplier documentation.

Qualifications

  • Engineer Level requires a Bachelor in a STEM field and 2+ years of relevant military / professional experience, or a Master's in a STEM field with related experience.
  • Principal Engineer Level requires a Bachelor in STEM and 5+ years of relevant military / professional experience, or a Master's in STEM with 3+ years, or a PhD with 1+ year.
  • Active US Government Secret clearance or higher required, with the ability to obtain SAP clearance.
  • Experience in Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) antenna analysis for source/victim analysis.
  • Experience in designing, integrating, testing LOS/BLOS communication systems in airborne military applications; cryptographic implementations; RF antenna and component design.
  • Experience in supplier documentation and statements of work.

Position: Engineer or Principal Engineer level RF Electronics Engineer

Location: Melbourne, FL.

Responsibilities
  • Support development and integration of communications and other RF subsystems and components to meet platform mission objectives
  • Develop requirements, analyze, mature and implement translating customer requirements into derived specifications
  • Perform Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) antenna analysis for source/victim (co-site) analysis
  • Conduct detailed trade studies
  • Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation plans, and track to closure
  • Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain supplier documentation, performance based specifications, and statements of work
  • Provide technical management of program strategic partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration and test support
  • Review supplier development documents and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews
  • Identify, plan and execute informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, troubleshoot hardware in the lab
  • Perform aircraft ground and flight test on subsystems to validate and verify subsystem requirements and sell-off
  • Support technical discussions with the customer and daily interactions with management, external personnel, customers, and various sub teams
Expected Skills
  • Knowledge of electromagnetics in the RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands)
  • Ability to design, select and characterize RF components to meet mission objectives
  • Problem-solving ability and data analysis experience
  • Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation
  • Ability to review supplier development documents and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work well in a close team environment
Basic Qualifications
  • Engineer Level: Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 2 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least some relevant military / professional / academic experience
  • Principal Engineer Level: Must have a Bachelors degree in a STEM field and at least 5 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field and at least 3 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a PhD and at least 1 year of relevant military / professional / academic experience
  • Both Levels: Must have an active US Government Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Must have experience in Computational Electromagnetic (CEM) antenna analysis for source/victim (co-site) analysis
  • Must have experience in one or more of the following: Designing, integrating, testing, installing, operating LOS and BLOS communication systems in airborne military applications; Experience with voice, military and network waveforms; Experience with cryptographic implementations; Experience with RF antenna and component design and performance analysis
  • Must have experience in supplier/subcontract management
  • Must have experience with developing supplier documentation, performance based specifications, and statements of work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience engaging directly with internal and external technical and programmatic representatives
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently and work in a self-directed manner
  • Experience in model based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools
  • Experience in performance analysis using MATLAB and Excel or similar tools
  • Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
  • Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and conducting technical evaluations, documenting results and selection
  • Active US Government Top Secret Clearance
Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,100.00 - $228,100.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $0.00 - $0.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
