Job summary

Horizon Lane seeks an Engineer in Training within its Engineering Research & Development department in the United States. The program combines formal classroom training with hands-on field experience, focusing on controls and automation, to develop future technical leaders.

The role is full-time and based in Mayfield Heights, OH with regional placements, cross-functional mentorship, and opportunities to work on The Connected Enterprise projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
• US work authorization; we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future.
• Willingness to relocate every six months based on opportunities and rotations.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen technical and leadership competencies through classroom training, mentoring, career planning and networking.
• Establish a foundation of skills via the Engineer in Training (EIT) Program with formal classroom training and experiential learning.
• Use the company’s automation technology to support The Connected Enterprise across various industries, including information software, PLCs, process control, industrial Ethernet, motion control, and more.
• Provide onsite troubleshooting assistance for automation technologies.
• Install, replace, configure, and update control system equipment and software.
• Advise on proper use, operation and maintenance of company products and software.
• Respond to customer needs with swift and quality responses.
• Assist with development and implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
• Build collaborative relationships and embrace the company culture of integrity, diversity and inclusion.
• Travel as required to cover assigned region/sub-region.

Role Overview: This role focuses on controls and automation. The company’s 1-year to 2-year Leadership Development Program (LDP) that provides associates with the tools needed to begin developing their technical leadership and innovation skills within a global company. Placement Location: You will be assigned to a Field Region based on business need and employee preference.

Job Responsibilities

• Use the company’s industrial automation technology to support The Connected Enterprise across a variety of industries. This may include information software, programmable controllers, process control, industrial Ethernet, motion control, industrial components, variable frequency drives, and more.
• Provide onsite troubleshooting assistance for automation technologies.
• Install, replace, configure, and update control system equipment and software.
• Consult regarding the proper use, operation and maintenance of the company’s products and software.
• Respond to customer needs, ensuring a swift and quality response.
• Assist with development and implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
• Build collaborative relationships and embrace the company culture of integrity, diversity and inclusion.
• Travel as required to cover assigned region /sub-region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university
• Permanent legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

• The ability to relocate every six months depending on opportunities and rotations
• Graduated in the past three years with a technically focused degree
• Interned with the company through an event
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to approach challenges with innovative solutions
• Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize competing tasks and meet deadlines
• Proven experience collaborating with and leading others to achieve project goals
• The ability to present complex information to diverse audiences

Compensation

The compensation for this role is $82,000–$84,000 per year.
