Job summary

Woodward’s Windsor, Colorado location is seeking an entry-level Materials Engineer I to join our team. You will perform materials testing, evaluation, and certification to support engineering and manufacturing processes, gaining hands-on experience in materials analysis, failure investigation, and qualification of components and processes.

You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams while performing tensile and fatigue testing across temperatures.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering or materials science.
  • Entry-level role; willingness to learn and grow.
  • Fundamental understanding of materials and testing methods.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts microstructure evaluation, residual stress, and hardness tests on metals.
  • Performs qualification of braze joints, welds, EDM surfaces, coatings, heat treatments, and platings.
  • Produces data for metals analysis and collaborates on material identification.
  • Conducts failure analyses using SEM and optical instruments; documents findings and corrective actions.
  • Supports learning and development by collaborating with senior materials engineers.
  • Performs tensile and fatigue testing at room and elevated temperatures; interprets data for design use.

Prepares report that documents findings and corrective actions.Learning and Development: Gains knowledge and skills by learning from more senior materials engineers.Tensile and Fatigue Testing: Performs mechanical testing of various materials at room and elevated temperatures.
