Job summary

Tribonet is seeking a Material Science Engineer in Dallas, TX to lead experimental materials work for heavy industrial equipment. You will design and review material specs, perform wear-rate research, and collaborate with foundries to produce experimental alloys.

You will conduct lab tests, analyze results, and present findings to management with actionable countermeasures. The role requires a strong technical background in materials science or metallurgical engineering, plus experience in

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Tribology Engineering Experience Is Preferred
  • CAD & FE A experience is preferred
  • Magma Simulation Or Similar Software Experience Is Preferred
  • Hand-on experience on lab testing equipment (tensile, impact, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain experimental material specifications and procedures
  • Plan, conduct and implement research & development pertaining to improve parts wear rate and performance
  • Collaborate with various internal & external foundries to produce experimental materials
  • Propose, performs, and summarize results of simulations pertaining to experimental materials
  • Conduct experiment using lab equipment to determine properties of experimental materials
  • Review metallurgical lab mechanical testing results and troubleshoot problems
  • Create reports to aid discussion of experimental material with individual of various technical backgrounds
  • Audit production processes such as melting process, chemistry control, heat treatment, etc. to achieve the desired results
  • Audit EAF, AOD, and Melt Shop processes for compliance
  • Conduct failure analysis, write technical reports, and propose countermeasures as required
  • Disposition and root cause analysis for non-confirming production lots

Seeking a Material Science Engineer for a heavy industrial equipment manufacturing company based in Dallas, TX.

The ideal candidate has a strong technical background with Research & Development focus. You are detailed oriented and have the ability to effectively prepare and present information to top management. Industry experience in foundry practices, heat treat processes, and failure analysis is highly preferred.
