Job summary

Eos Energy Storage in East Pittsburgh is seeking a manufacturing engineer to provide technical support and lead continuous improvement in operations. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.

This role involves troubleshooting manufacturing issues, developing processes, and training staff. Familiarity with CAD software and Lean manufacturing techniques is preferred. Occasional travel may be required, but primarily the position is on-site.

Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day technical floor support to operations, investigating and resolving issues that arise during manufacturing while maintaining or exceeding safety and productivity goals.
  • Develop processes to improve throughput using lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Design and construct tooling/fixtures for processes or modify existing production equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot technical process and product problems in real time to deploy countermeasures.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects in assigned process areas to reduce cost and cycle times.
  • Participate in Tier accountability meetings.
  • Engage with manufacturing process and operations teams to ensure all SQDC goals are achieved.
  • Assist in product design, material selections, and tooling reviews.
  • Own Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) for assigned processes.
  • Provide direction and coordinate efforts and responsibilities for interns and co-ops to best suit business needs.
  • Lead train-the-trainer sessions for assigned areas and ensure operations understand proper equipment operation through training, standard work, verification, and process audits.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, and activities that may change or be assigned at any time.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or another engineering discipline (preferred). Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing role. Electrical drawing interpretation experience (preferred).

Travel

Local travel; less than 10% domestic travel, little overnight travel.

Working Conditions

Office environment: remain stationary 50% of the time, occasional lifting up to 25 lb. Must have close visual acuity for data analysis, transcribing, computer work, extensive reading, and visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and machine operation. Requires safety gear (eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, lab coats).

Factory environment: potential hazards from moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, temperature changes, chemicals. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, gases. Noise level can be loud. May need to lift or move objects up to 50 lb.
