Job summary

United States Cold Storage, Inc. is seeking an Engineer 1 in Fresno to ensure maximum operating efficiency and minimal downtime. You will work to keep refrigeration systems running safely, while following all health and safety rules.

The role demands teamwork, self-motivation and hands-on maintenance of refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, welding, and related equipment, with routine inspections and precise record-keeping. Location: Fresno, CA; M-F with OT; $24-$30/hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Tech school in Refrigeration, Diesel, Electrical/Mechanical preferred.
• RETA Book 1 and 2 certification preferred.
• Must pass Emergency Response Physical and annual lung/auditory testing.
• Experience in PRW and industrial refrigeration is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain refrigeration systems to ensure uptime.
• Perform forklift maintenance and general mechanical upkeep.
• Read and interpret P&ID, SOPs and block flow diagrams.
• Maintain records and assist in emergency response scenarios.
• Comply with OSHA/EPA requirements and safety procedures.

The Job Details: The Engineer 1 position ensures maximum operating efficiency, minimal down time and conformity with all company, state, and federal health and safety rules. In addition, we need someone who works well with others and is self-motivated. Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Working knowledge on the level of refrigeration tech
• Proficient in forklift maintenance, mechanic skills, electrical, welding and general maintenance.
• Understand block flow diagram, SOP’s and P&ID’s.
• Perform duties to plan, schedule, operate, and maintain a refrigeration system.
• Assist in emergency response situations.
• Keeps all necessary records for the refrigeration system to stay compliant.
• Knowledge and practice with HVAC repair.
• Responsible for any routine maintenance and general housekeeping of refrigeration systems and warehouse related maintenance.
• Conducts daily routine inspections of all refrigeration equipment including Engine Room Log, and keeping of and maintaining records for compressors, evaporators and receivers.
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facilities refrigeration system.
• Establish and maintain a high level of professionalism that supports collaboration and problem solving while building strong working relationships with facility management, subordinates, and vendors.
• Ensures that all OSHA and EPA operational requirements and regulations are met.

What We Are Looking For:

Education

• High School Diploma or GED
• Tech School Graduate in Refrigeration, Diesel, or Electrical/ Mechanical or Equivalent preferred
• RETA Book 1 and 2 Certificate preferred
• Must pass Emergency Response Physical.
• Lung Capacity and Auditory Testing are conducted annually

Experience

• 2 to 5 years of experience with working knowledge of the public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) industry and industrial refrigeration systems (e.g. anhydrous ammonia)
• Working knowledge of the functions of various material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks, lead acid batteries, battery chargers, etc.).
• Knowledge of refrigeration control systems, microprocessors, and asset management programs (e.g. Infor EAM).
• Knowledge of mechanics and mechanical skills.
