Job summary

United States Cold Storage of CA is seeking an Engineer 1 in Fresno to maximize operating efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with health and safety rules. You will work with others and be self-motivated in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include planning, operating, and maintaining refrigeration systems, electrical/mechanical tasks, and daily inspections. OSHA/EPA compliance and documentation are essential, with open availability in engineering.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; Tech School Graduate in HVAC or Electrical/ Mechanical Equivalent Field, preferred.
  • Must pass Emergency Response Physical.
  • Lung Capacity and Auditory Testing are conducted annually.

Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of refrigeration & ammonia technologies.
  • Perform duties to plan, schedule, operate, and maintain a refrigeration system.
  • Good basic understanding of electrical and/or mechanical skills.
  • Possibly assist in emergency response situations.
  • Keeps all necessary records for the refrigeration system to stay compliant.
  • Knowledge and practice with HVAC repair.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance and general housekeeping of refrigeration systems and warehouse related maintenance.
  • Conducts daily routine inspections of all refrigeration equipment including Engine Room Log and maintaining records for compressors, evaporators and receivers.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facilities refrigeration system.
  • Establish and maintain professionalism to support collaboration and problem solving with facility management, subordinates, and vendors.
  • Ensures OSHA and EPA regulatory compliance.

In addition, we need someone who works well with others and is self-motivated. Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

The Job Specifics:

  • Location, Department and Work Hours: Fresno, Ca, Engineering, Open Availability
  • Reports To: Chief Engineer & Assistant Chief Engineer
  • Job Type, EEO, and Job Code: Full-Time, FLSA Non-Exempt
  • Compensation between: $20 - $26 per hour

What We Are Looking For:

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED; Tech School Graduate in HVAC or Electrical/ Mechanical Equivalent Field, preferred
  • Must pass Emergency Response Physical.
  • Lung Capacity and Auditory Testing are conducted annually

Experience

  • 1 to 2 years working knowledge of the public refrigerated warehouse (PRW) industry or related field.
  • Working knowledge of the functions of various material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks, lead acid batteries, battery chargers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of refrigeration control systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanics and mechanical skills
