Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Conduct rotordynamic modeling and analysis for vibration studies.
  • Design and validate dynamic seal concepts based on performance criteria.
  • Evaluate and optimize bearing performance to manage damping and power loss.
  • Correlate analytical predictions with test data.
  • Investigate machinery failures and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical reports and API-compliant technical specifications.

Job description

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct rotordynamic modeling and analysis, including lateral, torsional, and axial vibration studies, critical speed maps, and Campbell diagrams.
  • Design and validate dynamic seal concepts (labyrinth seals, brush seals, face-contact seals) based on performance, wear, and leakage criteria.
  • Evaluate and optimize bearing performance (fluid film, rolling element, or magnetic) to manage stiffness, damping, and power loss.
  • Correlate analytical predictions with test data and support flight, ground, or laboratory testing for model validation.
  • Investigate machinery failures and propose corrective actions.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and API‑compliant technical specifications.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Generally 4+ years of experience in rotor‑dynamics, bearing design, or high‑performance turbomachinery.
Key Skills and Technical Proficiencies
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as AxSTREAM, XLROTOR, MATLAB, ANSYS, or specialized seal analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of rotordynamics, tribology, finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Experience with industry standards such as API617, API684, and API610.
  • Deep knowledge of bearing technologies and rotor‑bearing‑seal interactions.
