Hybrid Eligibility

This position works a hybrid schedule, spending time remotely and in the office in Houston, TX. The current hybrid schedule provides flexibility to collaborate in the office Tuesdays through Thursdays and work from home Mondays and Fridays. With our 9/80 feature, you get time off every other Friday when you work at least 80 hours over the preceding nine days.

Job Duties
  • Provide Reservoir Engineering (RE) and Production Engineering (PE) support to the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Area Optimization team.
  • Apply knowledge of reservoir engineering principles, production forecasting, reserves estimation and classification, fluid and rock characterization, and economic analysis to support field development and optimization.
  • Combine analytical reservoir engineering methods with reservoir simulation for subsurface studies, uncertainty analysis, and business planning.
  • Identify well and reservoir production enhancement and optimization opportunities, providing a broad range of engineering, scientific, and operational inputs.
  • Model reservoir & well performance using Mbal, Prosper, and Gap tools.
  • Conduct Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA), interpret and design Well tests.
  • Utilize industry-leading reservoir simulators to maintain evergreen models for uncertainty analysis and prediction of hydrocarbon recovery ranges.
  • Assist in estimation and reporting of reserves for deepwater assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and corporate guidelines.
  • Participate in annual budget submission and support preparation of AFE.
  • Participate in technical reviews to facilitate quality assurance of reservoir engineering work for opportunity maturation, leading to FDP optimization.
  • Implement best practices for reservoir and production engineering workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support the design and execution of well treatments and interventions to meet EHS targets through risk assessments, hazard identification, and operability studies.
  • Establish the Well Operating Envelope (WOE), integrate surveillance into production system modeling to provide Well Management Guidelines (WMG) to the Offshore Operations Team.
  • Domestic travel is required. May telecommute part-time.
Job Requirements

Employer will accept a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a Reservoir Engineer-related occupation. Position requires experience in the following:

  • Reservoir engineering or production engineering principles and industry-leading applications as well as Reservoir Simulation and Modeling.
  • Reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, CMG, Petrel RE) and reservoir engineering tools (MBAL, PTA software, DCA software).
  • Well and Reservoir Performance Optimization, Uncertainty Analysis, Reserves Estimation and Reporting, Production Forecasting Fluid and Rock Characterization.
  • Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA), Well Test Design and Interpretation skills.
  • Regulatory Standards Compliance.
  • Economics software and principles to evaluate project profitability, such as prospective wells, workovers, and stimulations, leading to inclusion in budget & plan for project maturation.
