Job summary

JT4, LLC in the United States is seeking an Engineer IV to lead engineering efforts for system development, testing, and sustainment in support of DoD contracts. You will oversee technical work, coordinate with customers, and ensure program milestones, budgets, and schedules are met.

The role requires strong leadership, broad engineering knowledge, and the ability to craft design specifications, conduct analyses, and present findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution and eight years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of six years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum four years of related engineering experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.
  • Well-developed leadership skills.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions from a broad perspective.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in a supervisor role for engineers involved in development, testing, integration, and sustainment of diverse software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Determine test objectives, instrumentation, and data requirements.
  • Write test planning documents, schedule program activities, track funding and expenditures, plan and conduct test missions, analyze data, and document results.
  • Direct interface with internal and external customers from quotation to final design.
  • Act as liaison for test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Generate complete design specifications for more complex projects.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on scope of work.

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation’s war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today’s missions and tomorrow’s global challenges. For work specific to Colorado Springs, JT4 supports the National Space Test and Training Complex (NSTTC) – Electronic Domain portion of the range.

JOB SUMMARY -- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

An Engineer IV serves as a technical advisor responsible for a broad program involving development, budgeting, scheduling, project management assistance, and installation and integration of systems. Duties include planning and overseeing research, design, development, manufacturing, testing, installation, integration, sustainment, operation, and maintenance of diverse software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and systems. Specifically, this position includes sustainment activities to include sparing, obsolescence and tech refresh analysis and planning.

Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties:

  • Perform in a supervisor role for engineers involved in the development, testing, integration, and sustainment of specialized and diverse software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment, and systems
  • Determine test objectives, instrumentation, and data requirements
  • Write test planning documents, schedule program activities, track funding and expenditures, plan and conduct test missions, analyze resultant data, document results in test reports, statistical evaluations and briefing presentations
  • Direct interface with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design
  • Act as liaison for test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Generate complete design specifications for more complex projects
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
  • Act as a company/industry expert resource on the most complex engineering problems
  • Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advise management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations
  • Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Develop, interpret, and implement technical and administrative operating policies and procedures
  • Perform other related job duties as required

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and eight years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of six years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum four years of related engineering experience are required for this position.

In addition, an Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools
  • Well-developed leadership skills
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

This Engineer IV candidate will have the following desired background/experience:

  • Mission system sustainment that includes Life Cycle Sustainment Plans (LCSP)
  • Mission system sparing analysis and plans to include RMA and MTBF
  • Mission system obsolescence analysis and plans to include EOL, EOS for hardware, software and firmware
  • Tech refresh analysis and planning for more significant engineering upgrades

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $139,000 to $200,000 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required .
