Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/Engineering or related field.
  • 15+ years IT experience, including 7+ years as an engineer.
  • Experience leading large-scale tech implementations or digital transformations.
  • Experience with SaaS enterprise planning platforms, cloud apps, and integrated ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy, roadmap, design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of merchandising planning technology solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and vendor offerings to improve planning capabilities and deliver business value.
  • Provide technical leadership for platform modernization, application enhancements, integrations, analytics, and automation initiatives.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify opportunities, and develop scalable solutions that support planning and forecasting processes.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, development best practices, governance processes, and solution architectures.
  • Lead solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support activities across planning technology platforms.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering, Data, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and strategies.
  • Drive adoption of advanced analytics, automation, AI, and emerging technologies to improve planning effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct technology assessments, capacity planning, and performance reviews to support current and future business needs.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert and Level 3 escalation point for critical production issues and platform support activities.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to support team growth and development.

General Purpose

The Engineer IV, Merchandising Planning Delivery Lead leads the strategy, modernization, and delivery of Ross’s merchandising planning technology solutions. This highly technical, individual‑contributor role drives architecture, roadmap, and platform evolution, partnering with business and IT stakeholders to deliver value, evaluate emerging technologies, and provide technical leadership across implementation, optimization, and operational support initiatives.

Base salary range: $161,300 – $275,200. Total compensation includes other rewards and benefits.

Essential Functions
  • Lead strategy, roadmap, design, implementation, and ongoing evolution of merchandising planning technology solutions
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and vendor offerings to improve planning capabilities and deliver business value
  • Provide technical leadership for platform modernization, application enhancements, integrations, analytics, and automation initiatives
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify opportunities, and develop scalable solutions that support planning and forecasting processes

Qualifications and Special Skills
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 15+ years of overall IT experience, including at least 7 years as an engineer
  • Experience leading large‑scale technology implementations, modernization initiatives, or digital transformation programs
  • Experience with SaaS‑based enterprise planning platforms, cloud‑based applications, and integrated technology ecosystems
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of merchandising planning, forecasting, analytics, and retail technology platforms
  • Experience with cloud technologies, data integration, APIs, enterprise application architecture, and modern software delivery practices
  • Understanding of analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology capabilities
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and supporting enterprise software solutions
  • Strong knowledge of application lifecycle management, system integration, governance, and operational support
Functional / Domain Skills
  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising planning processes and supporting technologies, including forecasting, financial planning, assortment planning, inventory planning, allocation, replenishment, and related disciplines
  • Knowledge of merchandising systems, product hierarchies, master data management, and enterprise retail platforms is highly desirable
  • Understanding of key retail planning and inventory performance metrics used to support business decision‑making
Analytics & Data Science Skills
  • Experience leveraging analytics, statistical methods, forecasting techniques, and data‑driven decision‑making processes to support retail planning and merchandising functions
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics, optimization methodologies, and emerging AI/ML technologies is preferred
Soft Skills & Leadership
  • Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor and trusted technical advisor
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technology organizations
  • Experience influencing technology strategy, solution direction, and vendor engagements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and drive outcomes through influence and collaboration
Physical Requirements / ADA

Job requires work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. Regular attendance, ability to travel to corporate offices in NYBO and Dublin, and ability to see information in print or electronically. In‑office presence is required but remote work is possible.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct people‑management responsibilities. It provides technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers, project teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders while influencing technology direction and solution outcomes.
