Job summary

Horrocks is seeking an Engineer-In-Training – Roadway in Meridian, ID. The role supports project engineers, performs civil design tasks, and interprets plans across roadway projects.

Qualified candidates will have a B.S. in Civil Engineering with an EIT or EIT within 6-12 months, 0–4+ years of experience preferred, and proficiency in MicroStation ORD and Autodesk Civil 3D. Travel may be required and safety is emphasized.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering – EIT or EIT certificate obtained within 6–12 months of hire.
• 0–4+ years of civil design experience preferred; entry level considered.
• Passed FE exam or EIT within 6–12 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers and Engineers with engineering design tasks for roadway projects.
• Perform civil design and calculations, interpret plans from related disciplines.
• Use MicroStation ORD and/or Autodesk Civil 3D to develop designs and documentation.
• Manage project data files from various sources and ensure accuracy.
• Travel and perform fieldwork as needed, maintain safety and quality.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

• Support Project Managers and Engineers with engineering design tasks for various projects
• Perform civil engineering design and associated calculations and interpret plans from other engineering-related disciplines
• Apply technical expertise and be able to work with a project team on conventional and unconventional projects
• Perform independent research and delegate changing priorities
• Adhere to Horrocks safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment
• Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error-free
• Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

• Have a strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
• Prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
• Be able to develop designs and documentation using MicroStation ORD and/or Autodesk Civil 3D or other design software
• Manage project data files from various sources
• Be proactive and responsive in effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually/remotely
• Ability to travel and perform fieldwork on occasion
• B.S. in Civil Engineering – EIT; or EIT certification acquired within 6-12 months of employment
• 0-4+ years of experience in civil design is preferred. Entry-level candidates will be considered
• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam; or EIT certification acquired within 6-12 months of employment
• Must be able to work independently with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, with competing priorities
