Qualifications

  • 1-4 years of experience in design and/or field inspection of power distribution.
  • Registered or eligible to register with EGBC as an EIT.

What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):

  1. Design underground and overhead electrical infrastructure in compliance with client and national standards
  2. Conduct field inspections on BC Hydro overhead and underground distribution infrastructure
  3. Utilize SPIDAcalc for evaluating pole design and creating non-standard overhead line design solutions
  4. Prepare design packages for various BC Hydro programs and ensure quality assurance
  5. Collaborate with clients, co-workers, and regulatory authorities during project meetings and site inspections

What is Required (Qualifications):

  1. Degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical or Civil
  2. Registered, or eligible to register, with EGBC as an EIT
  3. 1 to 4 years of experience in design and/or field inspection of overhead power distribution infrastructure
  4. Class 5 Driver License
  5. Strong oral and written communication skills

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):

  1. Design experience, Co-op or post-graduate, specifically related to BC Hydro Overhead or Underground utility distribution
  2. Familiarity with SPIDAcalc, PLS-CADD, DAD, and/or Passport software
