Overview

Grand Traverse Engineering & Construction (GTEC) is a subsidiary of Grand Traverse Economic Development (GTED), a fast-growing company with opportunities to learn and advance. We are seeking an energetic applicant who can meet and exceed the below goals.

We are currently seeking an Engineer-in-Training for our Traverse City, Michigan location. This position is an exempt (salary) position. Wages commensurate with experience.

Role and Responsibilities

You will be part of a growing team working on private and federal projects that have positive impacts on the communities and clients we service. This position will report to the Project Engineer and Senior VP of Operations.

  • Perform basic calculations, and develop grading, drainage, sewer, and water plans along with specifications.
  • Assist in the evaluation of fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in the examination of field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.
  • Assist in documentation processes and preparation of bidding documents.
  • Prepare materials for presentations or client meetings.
  • Assist in the requests for information and drafting correspondence.
  • Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors.
  • Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications and participating in technical organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
  • Possess strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and work effectively as part of a project team.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Introductory working knowledge of ArcPro, HECRAS, MicroStation, AutoCAD and Carlson.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle for transportation is required.
