Job Description

Engineer III, Wireless Network RF

Work Location:

2550 Denali Street Anchorage AK 99503. (Telecommuting permitted from anywhere in the U.S. per GCI policy)

Job Duties:
  1. Design and optimize wireless networks, including 5G, LTE, UMTS/HSPA, GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, and CDMA/EFDO, supporting internal and field personnel.
  2. Monitor and analyze radio network KPIs, develop performance processes, and serve as a subject matter expert on wireless technologies.
  3. Troubleshoot site network issues, review data for fault diagnosis, and support customer and employee inquiries.
  4. Perform coverage, capacity, and performance design activities, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting new feature development.
  5. Lead complex network design projects, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior engineers.
  6. Review engineering specifications, make independent decisions, and support field troubleshooting remotely.

Occasional travel within Alaska and outside work/travel to lower 48 states required. 100% telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. permitted.

Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
  2. 6 years of RF engineering experience, including wireless site troubleshooting, optimization, and design.
  3. Experience with telecommunications platforms (Ericsson GSM/CDMA/UMTS/HSPA/LTE/5G), RF tools, and drive test validation.
  4. Knowledge of RF propagation, cellular theory, and FCC regulations.
Terms of Employment:

40+ hours/week

Salary:

$128,294/year
