A leading county in Florida is seeking an Engineer III for Utilities. This role includes planning and managing significant utility system projects and requires a Bachelor's in Engineering along with several years of experience managing engineering projects. The Engineer III will play an essential supervisory role, ensuring the efficient expansion and maintenance of utility services.
Under broad guidance from Utilities management the Engineer III is responsible for management of engineering consultants on assigned projects including scope development, design, construction, administration, commissioning, and warranty phases. Performs troubleshooting and technical evaluations and serves as a resource for the resolution of problems related to plant operations, pipelines, process equipment, structures, and other appropriate issues. Performs routine and special assignments including preparation of written studies, reports, memos, letters, etc. Represents the Utilities Branch on Contracts and Construction Division matters. Responsible for providing general engineering support to all departments within the Utilities Services Branch. Prepares in-house design, construction, and contract documents. Performs contract administration, and field inspection as required. Interacts and coordinates with state regulatory agenciesand County departments as required for Utilities projects. Evaluates new equipment, materials, and repair procedures for use by other Utilities Departments. Provides assistance to the general public and citizen groups as requested. Coordinates and conducts project public hearings as required. Performsrelated workas required.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering. Five (5) years of experience in the field of water and wastewater engineering and/or managing utility process equipment projects and/or supporting utility operations and maintenance activities, including two (2) years' as a project manager, supervisor or related duties.Three (3) years of engineering experience as a Professional Engineer required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
Applicants that are not registered as a Professional Engineer may apply, but would be considered for a Technical Specialist III position at $68,106.00 - $102,159.00 annually (D.O.Q.). If hired, must have the ability to obtain registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida within one (1) year from the date of hire.
