Job summary

Edward Jones is seeking a senior Java developer to design, build, test, and maintain scalable Java applications within the Digital Product Development team. You will collaborate with product partners to turn business needs into robust technical solutions, while guiding architecture and engineering best practices.

The role emphasizes production support, performance improvements, and adoption of modern Java frameworks in a hybrid work setting across Tempe, AZ, and related offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Java software development and enterprise application engineering.
• Expertise in Java web application development.
• Strong understanding of application architecture, system integration, and SDLC practices.
• Experience translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including MongoDB and Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement scalable Java-based applications and services.

• Contribute to system design, application architecture, and technology decisions that support long-term product strategy.

• Identify opportunities to enhance application performance, modernize technology, and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the adoption and integration of AI-enabled capabilities, automation, and data-driven solutions where appropriate

This position is on the Digital Product Development team, responsible for building, enhancing, and supporting critical applications and systems. The role focuses on delivering scalable software solutions, improving product functionality, and maintaining application reliability through continuous improvement and production support.

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, test, and implement scalable Java-based applications and services

• Experience translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions

• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including MongoDB and Oracle

What Could Set You Apart:

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), Kubernetes, microservices, and modern Java frameworks

• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, application monitoring, and production support

• Experience with Databricks, AI/ML technologies, or intelligent automation solutions

• Relevant Azure certifications

Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week.
