Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer III - Steam Turbine & Generator to coordinate engineering, scheduling, procurement, and technical activities across project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 10-20 years of experience supporting EPC projects within power generation or related sectors.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management with multinational teams.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specs, and contract documents.
  • Experience with SP3D and MS Office; PMP/PE preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead resolution of technical issues among EPC contractors, Owner’s Engineers, customers, and Mitsubishi Power during project execution.
  • Develop and maintain engineering execution strategies and DOR guidelines with turbine/generator affiliates.

Role Overview

The Project Engineer – Steam Turbine & Generator serves as the primary technical liaison between Mitsubishi Power engineering, project management, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and customers during project execution. This role is responsible for coordinating engineering, scheduling, procurement, and technical activities to ensure steam turbine, generator, and auxiliary system scope is delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, project schedules, and quality standards. Working in a multidisciplinary project environment, the Project Engineer facilitates communication, resolves technical issues, and supports successful execution of power generation projects from engineering through commissioning and warranty support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead resolution of technical issues involving steam turbines, generators, and associated systems among EPC contractors, Owner’s Engineers, customers, and Mitsubishi Power during project execution.
  • Develop and maintain engineering execution strategies and Division of Responsibility (DOR) guidelines with turbine and generator affiliates to ensure clear ownership and efficient project delivery.
  • Capture, document, and share lessons learned from project execution to support continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Review and interpret technical documentation, including P&IDs, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), equipment layouts, specifications, and engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, resolving interface issues between Mitsubishi Power engineering teams and steam turbine/generator suppliers.
  • Translate contract requirements and scope of work into actionable engineering deliverables and support alignment across discipline engineering teams.
  • Conduct and participate in meetings with international engineering partners to support successful project implementation and issue resolution.
  • Review and approve project documents and drawings to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and document control processes.
  • Collaborate closely with gas turbine, project engineering, sourcing, quality, and project management teams to support project execution, vendor coordination, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI, AWS, API, ASTM, NFPA, IEEE, and NEC, as they relate to steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Support Application Engineering in evaluating customer specifications and technical requirements in conjunction with affiliate engineering organizations.
  • Track and resolve open technical issues through project completion and warranty expiration, ensuring timely closure and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 10-20 years of experience supporting EPC projects within the power generation, petrochemical, gas turbine, steam turbine, or related industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering design and EPC project execution, including coordination across Process, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Controls disciplines.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, technical requirements, and contract documents throughout project execution, construction, and commissioning.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working effectively with customers, EPC contractors, suppliers, and international project teams.
  • Knowledge of construction, commissioning, and project delivery processes for large-scale industrial or power generation facilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices, including experience working within OSHA and ISO-compliant environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering/project management tools; experience with SP3D is preferred.
  • Professional certifications, such as Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure and/or Project Management Professional (PMP), are preferred.
  • International business experience and fluency in Japanese and/or Spanish are highly desirable.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support project execution, customer meetings, and site activities.
