As a RAN Performance engineer, you will provide technical expertise on a critical role involving network transformation, network service issues, network optimization, and maintenance. You will be responsible for providing support to keep things running smoothly and change the way that our customers live, work, and play. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented RAN Performance Engineer / LTE and 5G RAN Performance Engineer to lead wireless network testing, field execution, parameter optimization, and node migration projects across multi-vendor LTE and 5G networks (mmWave, C-Band, DSS, and Clean NR). In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure seamless network quality and user experience.

Customers expect our networks to perform at a high level all the time. That’s also where you come in. Additionally, you will investigate, evaluate and resolve network and data performance issues to ensure and reliable service for our customers. The work you’ll be doing will directly impact customer satisfaction and help keep us ahead of the competition. You are able to thrive in the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence AI platforms and leverage AI use wherever possible.

Performing optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network systems and applications to identify overall system availability and performance.

Evaluating network coverage to find gaps, making recommendations to improve coverage, and helping to implement those recommendations.

Generating, driving, and updating problem-tracking tickets via multiple systems and continuously improving business practices.

Indoor RF Coverage Assessments: Collecting scanner data, analyzing RSRP, SINR, and PCI pollution, and identifying coverage gaps or interference.

Analyze pre/post- KPI performance, identifying and resolving critical RAN performance issues such as high call drop rates, low throughput, interference, and handoff failures.

Perform deep-dive VoLTE/5G drive test analysis to enhance accessibility, retainability, MOS score, and minimize audio gaps.

Executing multi-band LTE and 5G optimization

Implement RF shaping adjustments (mechanical/electrical tilt, azimuth changes) and parameter optimization to balance traffic and maximize capacity.

Evaluating service performance trends and isolating root cause of impacted services.

Performing field drive/walk testing and post processing & analysis of logs of relevant technologies and Key Performance Indicators. Analyzing Layer 3 drive test data and coming up with optimization strategies.

Diagnosing and resolving in-building system issues, collaborating with senior engineers to address customer problems.

Managing customer eFEMTO deployments: providing technical support, and serving as a primary point of contact for customer‑facing issues

Focusing on continuous improvements, network and capacity optimization

Coordinating technical investigations and testing with appropriate regional, area and HQ functions.

Providing technical analysis, troubleshooting and training assistance to markets and regions as requested

Optimizating 5G and LTE RAN networks using traditional and innovative means

Investigating and resolving customer complaints regarding services

New Cell Site integration support, including Small Cells and DAS (Indoor as well as Outdoor) systems

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience

  • Proven track record of team leadership, mentoring, and technical oversight.

  • Strong problem‑solving abilities in challenging field and environment scenarios.

  • Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional teamwork and technical presentations.

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.

  • Expertise of 4G and 5G

  • Five or more years of hands‑on experience in RF field testing, optimization, and wireless network deployment.

  • Strong working knowledge of 3GPP standards across CDMA, EVDO, LTE, VoLTE, CBRS, and 5G (mmWave, C-Band, DSS, Clean NR).

  • Proven experience with OEM platforms including Samsung, Nokia macro and small cell hardware.

  • Proficiency with field drive test tools and post‑processing software, such as TEMS, XCAL, XCAP, JDSU, WindCatcher, TrueCall, xLPT, IRIS, and Optis Analyzer.

  • Familiarity with RF planning and reporting tools like Atoll, MapInfo Professional and Google Earth Pro.

  • Experience with propagation model tuning and validation to ensure accurate coverage alignment between prediction models and real‑time drive/walk test or field data.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.
