The posted salary range indicates potential compensation, not necessarily starting salary. New external hires typically begin at the initial step. Placement above the initial step may be considered based on position requirements, exceptional qualifications, budget availability, and other relevant factors, all requiring prior approval. Current Hawaii State Department of Education employees will be placed according to Department regulations and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
For Engineers IV and V, at least one year of the required engineering experience must have been experience comparable to the next lower level.
Quality of ExperienceExperience and education must demonstrate ability to perform efficiently the duties of the position; experience thresholds alone are not sufficient proof of qualification.
Substitutions AllowedApplicants for Engineer IV and higher must possess a Hawaii State Certificate of Registration as a professional engineer.
