This opportunity involves the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will work closely with project managers to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery, applying engineering techniques and design criteria to projects of varying size and complexity. You will leverage technical knowledge and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs, develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations, mentor junior engineer staff, and contribute to successful project delivery for a diverse range of HNTB clients.

What You'll Do
  • Complete assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
  • Assist in the development of project specifications.
  • Develop discipline‑specific engineering project elements and deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.
  • Coordinate and enhance the productivity of project team members.
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.
  • Perform quality control reviews of discipline‑specific engineering project elements and deliverables.
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within the discipline.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • PhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.
What You'll Bring
  • Optimizing work processes by applying knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to achieve close‑to‑real‑time improvements.
  • Independently progressing the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
  • Exhibiting experience with Microsoft Office Suite and MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrating a thorough understanding of the application of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
  • Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.
What We Prefer
  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification (depending on discipline)
Additional Information

Pay Range (Minnesota): $87,542.15 – $136,924.92 (estimates vary by qualifications, experience, and location).

Pay Range (Nationwide): $83,373.48 – $163,005.83 (estimates vary by qualifications, experience, and location).
