Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Engineer III to develop mechanical system design packages for gas turbine auxiliary equipment and coordinate with outside vendors to ensure compliance with codes, contracts, and project schedules across MPW’s Americas projects.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in relevant Engineering discipline required.
• Minimum eight (8) years of technical experience required.
• Direct experience with skid-mounted equipment, rotating and/or static equipment in an EPC environment preferred; power plant or international experience a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc.).
• Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
• Minimal travel may be required (5 – 20%)

Role Overview

The Equipment Engineer II position is responsible for developing mechanical system design packages for gas turbine auxiliary mechanical equipment, working with outside vendors to fabricate the specified equipment and ensuring that the supplied equipment packages meet code, contract and schedule requirements for MPW’s power projects in the Americas.

The mechanical systems engineering group is responsible for the following major systems:

• Heat Exchangers, Including the Turbine Air Cooler, Fuel Gas Heater, FG Dew Point Heater
• Fuel Gas Conditioning Equipment (Filter/Separators, Scrubbers, Filters)
• GT and Auxiliary Enclosures Heating, Ventilation
• Enhanced Cooling Air Equipment (Compressor and Drain Mist Separator)
• Tempering Air Fans

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
• Interpret P&IDs, customer specifications, and other technical documentation to define system and project requirements and ensure alignment with contractual requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations and equipment sizing to support system design and proper equipment selection.
• Develop technical specifications and procurement documentation for mechanical equipment, including inquiry and purchase specifications.
• Evaluate and technically qualify vendors, providing recommendations and reviewing vendor designs, test results, and documentation for compliance with codes, contracts, and internal requirements.
• Coordinate equipment and design interfaces, ensuring arrangement and foundation information is accurate and meets project requirements.
• Manage vendor technical coordination, conducting regular meetings, responding to inquiries, and monitoring technical and schedule requirements.
• Interpret and integrate design requirements from customers and parent company, and respond to technical inquiries from vendors, customers, and field personnel.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, including standard drawings, specifications, processes, and procedures to improve design quality and resource efficiency.
• Drive design, cost, and quality improvements, including system cost reduction opportunities and corrective actions to reduce nonconformances.
• Manage engineering deliverables and schedules, providing regular status updates to management and ensuring applicable codes and requirements are incorporated into system and vendor designs.
• Prepare technical correspondence and coordinate effectively with vendors, internal engineering disciplines, and other project stakeholders.

Requirements
