Your Next Opportunity

The Engineer III is a senior engineering position responsible for providing technical engineering information and assistance to ensure compliance with project requirements and all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. This role includes mentoring and training other staff.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee a team of engineers, designers, and staff on a project basis or individual initiative.
  • May serve as Engineer of Record for assigned projects.
  • Supervise, review, comment, and process equipment and system submittals.
  • Coordinate between architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, and all electrical trades.
  • Oversee preparation of designs for power, lighting, and auxiliary systems for PV, DG, BESS, or MV systems.
  • Coordinate between civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, operations, and field teams and all electrical trades.
  • Oversee preparation of power system single-line diagrams, feeder design, overcurrent protection sizing, and equipment elevations.
  • Supervise or conduct short circuit and over-current protection device coordination studies and Arc Flash studies.
  • Supervise or conduct distribution analysis including voltage drop, voltage droop, and Neher–McGrath calculations.
  • Oversee project specifications and equipment manufacturer coordination.
  • Visit job sites for field survey of existing electrical conditions.
  • Utilize engineering analysis programs and professional judgment to analyze loads, energy production, lighting levels, and short circuit currents.
  • Conduct value engineering to evaluate construction costs.
  • Lead project design team meetings and interface with clients, architects, contractors, and other engineers.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to align design criteria with budget and schedule.
  • Resolve drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, and errors during project installation.
  • Generate project specifications and a complete, accurate sequence of operations for designed systems.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of equipment testing and commissioning.
  • Apply conventional electrical engineering principles to high-tech facilities including health, commercial, industrial, and high-rise residential projects.
  • Review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
  • Supervise design progress and coordinate with city/state authorities and other outside agencies.
  • Oversee plans and specifications, establish schedules, and coordinate electrical engineering work.
  • Prepare commissioning documentation for buildings.
  • Resolve complex design problems and non-standard material or coordination issues.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering topics, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, energy conservation, value engineering, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Map3D, Autodesk Civil3D, Google Earth, PVsyst, PVcase, Microsoft Office, Illumination software, and Oracle-based tools for engineering productivity.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under time pressure with a positive attitude.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and a strong team player.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of staff, vendors, and clients.
What You Bring to Us
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences.
  • Typically at least 5 years of engineering experience.
  • One-year on-site field experience strongly encouraged.
  • Licensure as a US-based Professional Engineer is required.
  • Combination of education, training, and relevant experience also acceptable.
Travel
  • Up to 20% travel (local field visits not included).
Working Conditions
  • General work environment includes sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending; primarily indoors with varying lighting and climate conditions.
  • Noise level usually low to medium; can be loud on job sites.
