Job summary

Liquidity Services is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support modern web applications using React, Next.js, Node.js, and AWS. The role covers the full SDLC, delivering scalable customer-facing and internal solutions.

You will work independently on projects, collaborate with teammates, participate in code reviews, and help improve performance, security, and reliability within established development standards.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of professional experience on the Express.js web stack.
  • Full-stack JS/TS development with React, Next.js, Node.js, HTML5, CSS3, REST APIs, Redis, and AWS services such as S3.
  • Experience developing, supporting, and maintaining Node.js applications, including troubleshooting issues, resolving defects, and implementing enhancements.
  • Experience developing responsive web applications using React and Next.js.
  • Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, web functions, and standards.
  • Experience with common design and code patterns (e.g., dependency injection, singleton, factories, etc.)
  • Experience working on high-concurrency public web applications
  • Experience implementing industry best practices as they relate to code construction and web application security
  • Familiarity with the Bootstrap framework
  • Experience with agile development environments and Scrum methodology a plus
  • Business domain experience in e-commerce and/or back-office applications a plus
  • Experience writing unit tests in an MVC environment a plus
  • Experience working in an AWS environment a plus
  • Hands-on experience with highly secured enterprise-level applications a plus
  • Experience writing multi-threaded applications in Nodejs is a plus.
  • Experience optimizing a slow running application for better performance and speed

  • Participate in On Call and after-hours maintenance.
  • Engage in major incidents (Sev1, Sev2, Sev3).
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Conform to architectural and coding standards including defensive programming.

Job Description

This position is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting modern web applications and services using React, Next.js, Node.js, and AWS cloud technologies while enhancing and maintaining existing enterprise platforms. The role participates in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, application design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, deployment, and production support for customer-facing and internal software solutions. The position works independently on assigned projects and collaborates closely with team members to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. The role is expected to solve routine to moderately complex technical challenges, contribute to application design discussions, and make implementation decisions within established development standards and best practices. Compared to entry-level software development positions, this role requires a broader understanding of full-stack development concepts, increased ownership of assigned features and enhancements, and accountability for delivering reliable, maintainable code. The work performed in this position directly supports product functionality, operational efficiency, and the overall user experience.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and provide solutions for complex software development tasks, providing design documentation as required.
  • Collaborate with business unit leadership to understand business requirements and translate into technical solutions.
  • Exhibit an active interest in how the business works to understand not just what work needs to be done, but why.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure the quality of work delivered by the team meets or exceeds stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide support in production support issue resolution including root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for the Public facing and Internal IT technologies current and future. Understand and utilize the defined change control procedures, installation instructions and support request instructions
  • Ensure the established monitoring alerts are responded to in a timely manner to ensure for system quality availability, security, performance and failures
  • Break down any outages or quality issues to root causes and prevent recurrences by addressing root causes
  • Participate in On Call and after-hours maintenance activities
  • Engage in and work through major incidents (Sev1, Sev2, Sev3)
  • Exhibit effective organizational skills, a focus on accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities as well as creativity in coming up with outside-the-box solutions.
  • Conform to architectural and coding standards/conventions including concepts such as defensive programming.

Work Conditions/ Physical Demands
  • This position is primarily performed in a home office or other approved remote work environment. The employee is expected to maintain a safe, secure, and distraction-free workspace with reliable internet access. Duties primarily involve prolonged periods of sitting, working on a computer, and communicating via phone and video conferencing.
  • The employee must be able to frequently use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment, as well as communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, and business partners. Occasional lifting of office materials or equipment up to 15 pounds may be required.

  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or business needs (up to 10%).
Pay & Benefits

Compensation is determined by various factors such as location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as internal and external equity and organizational needs. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

The salary range for this position is $85,400 to $96,050 annually. The posted range reflects our national average range for the job. We may ultimately pay more or less than the published range based on the factors mentioned above. This range may be modified in the future.
