Job description

As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We're proud to work for a mission-driven company leveraging AI to transform the way we work. CrowdStrikers drive their careers through flexibility and autonomy while also being expected to contribute to a culture of responsible AI adoption, experimentation, and innovation. We use an AI-first mindset as a force multiplier to proactively and continuously accelerate execution, build expertise, uncover insights, and solve complex problems. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.

About the Role:

CrowdStrike is hiring an Engineer II to help run the Kubernetes clusters behind the Falcon platform. Those clusters live in our own data centers and in AWS, GCP, and OCI. In this role you will keep them healthy, work incidents, and automate the manual tasks that eat up the team's time. You will work closely with senior engineers and grow your skills with Kubernetes and the tools we use to monitor it: Prometheus, Thanos, Alertmanager, and Grafana.

What You’ll Do:
  • Operate and maintain large Kubernetes clusters in our data centers and in public cloud.
  • Troubleshoot problems with nodes, pods, networking, DNS, storage, and the control plane, and escape when a problem needs more help.
  • Take shifts in the on‑call rotation and work incidents through to resolution with the rest of the team.
  • Carry out planned changes like cluster and node upgrades, add‑on updates, certificate rotation, and adding capacity, following our change process.
  • Build and tune alerts and dashboards in Prometheus, Thanos, Alertmanager, and Grafana.
  • Write tools in Go or Python to replace repetitive manual work.
  • Keep runbooks and documentation up to date.
  • Use AI tools in your daily work to troubleshoot and automate.
  • Join design discussions and learn how the wider platform fits together.
  • Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision‑making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
What You’ll Need:
  • Must be eligible for CJIS clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship or Green Card/permanent resident status.
  • 3+ years in infrastructure, systems, or platform engineering, with at least 2 years running Kubernetes in production.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes workloads, services, networking, ingress, DNS, storage, and RBAC, and how to troubleshoot them with kubectl and logs.
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Prometheus, Alertmanager, and Grafana.
  • Programming or scripting experience in Go or Python, and an interest in writing more Go.
  • Experience with at least one of AWS, GCP, or OCI.
  • Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Helm, or similar tools, and with git.
  • Willingness to be on call.
  • Experience using AI tools in your engineering work.
Bonus Points:
  • Thanos experience.
  • Experience with Kubernetes add‑ons such as CoreDNS, ingress controllers, CNI plugins, or cert‑manager.
  • Experience deploying microservices.
  • Exposure to writing Kubernetes controllers or operators.
  • Experience with bare metal or on‑premises infrastructure.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or a similar certification.
  • Experience working with both local and remote teams.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable working on your own, and knows when to ask the team for help.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
