Job summary

Epredia in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking an Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineering to own consumable product specifications and support batching, bottling and packaging processes. You will drive improvements to safety, quality, delivery and efficiency while developing innovative solutions to streamline production and reduce waste.

This onsite role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, 3+ years of manufacturing experience, and familiarity with Lean, validation activities, and change control.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or manufacturing engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience required.
  • Experience identifying sources of waste and driving down cost.
  • Experience with validation for equipment and processes.
  • Experience managing projects or programs.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
  • ISO 9001, ISO13485, FDA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Address waste, scrap, downtime, layout, and inventory location/accuracy issues.
  • Address daily process disruptions; update SOPs and retrain staff as needed.
  • Support change control activities; own SOPs and work instructions for existing and new processes.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, waste reduction, and cost savings.
  • Support IQ/OQ/PQ validations for equipment and new lines; assist with capital projects.
  • Maintain costing standards, setup times, production rates and scrap factors; participate in annual standard roll.
  • Support packaging design/development and product rationalization from a manufacturing perspective.
  • Create and maintain product family matrix with Marketing and Inventory Control.

(DO NOT CHANGE).As a Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineer you’ll take charge of consumable product specifications and support key processes involved in batching, bottling, and packaging products for market.You’ll have the opportunity to tackle challenges head-on, optimizing manufacturing methods to boost safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.By developing innovative solutions, you’ll help streamline production and minimize waste, directly impacting our success in creating high-quality products.Location: Onsite: Kalamazoo, MIWhat you will do:Understand and address manufacturing waste, including MUV (Material Usage Variance), scrap, downtime, manufacturing layout, and inventory location/accuracy issues.Address daily process disruptions, including equipment downtime, material availability, and IT system outages; update SOPs and re-train employees as needed.Support change control activities, including use-as-is and disposition decisions, and own manufacturing SOPs and work instructions for existing and new processes.Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, waste reduction, material cost savings, and production enhancements.Support IQ/OQ/PQ validations for existing and new equipment and assist with implementation of next-generation production lines and capital projects.Maintain costing standards, including setup times, production rates, and scrap rates/factors, and participate in the annual standard roll.Support packaging design/development and new product development activities, ensuring design for manufacturability and supporting product rationalization efforts.Create and maintain the product family matrix and assist Marketing and Inventory Control with product rationalization from a manufacturing perspective.Qualifications & Skills:Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering required, Masters preferred.3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering required.Experience identifying sources of waste and manufacturing processes to drive down cost.Experience with validation for equipment and processes.Experience managing projects or programs.Knowledge, training, and/or experience in Lean Manufacturing.Manufacturing standard costing experience preferred.ISO 9001, ISO13485, FDA experience is preferred.The ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 50lbs as well as the ability to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and carry.The hiring range for this position is: $74,250 - $88,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws.
