Job summary

RK&K is hiring a Transportation Engineer for our team in Fairfax, VA. As a Highway/Roadway Engineer, you will design and analyze transportation facilities, including new roadways, widenings, resurfacings, and multimodal improvements.

Essential functions include design and analysis of alignments, plan sheets, traffic control plans, quantity calculations, cost estimates, design documentation, and collaboration with other disciplines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years roadway design experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EI license in VA or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Design and analysis of horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Prepare plan, profile, cross section, and detail sheets.
• Design temporary traffic control plans.
• Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates.
• Support preparation of design documentation.
• Support preparation of specifications packages.
• Work with other disciplines on design challenges.

Skills

Two years roadway design experience

Knowledge of basic roadway design

Education

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Engineering Intern license in VA or eligibility

• Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges

Required Skills & Experience

• Two (2)+ years of experience in roadway design
• Working knowledge of basic roadway design principals
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
• Engineering Intern (E.I.) license in VA or ability to obtain within six (6) months

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Roadway widening or new alignment design
• Innovative intersection design
• Sidewalk or shared use path design
• Previous internship experience

Salary range $40.00-$44.00 per hour - Final compensation is based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
