Job summary

Pike Engineering in New Jersey is seeking a second-level engineer to apply technical expertise under supervision, solving complex problems and guiding projects. You will plan and monitor work, prepare detailed technical reports, and support continuous improvement while communicating clearly with diverse teams.

The ideal candidate holds an ABET/EAC accredited engineering degree (or equivalent) and has 2–4 years of engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from ABET/EAC accredited program or evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES
• 2–4 years of engineering experience
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds

Job description

Position Overview

This is the second level of the Engineering classification. Provide engineering/technical expertise to solve more complex problems in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under some direct supervision, in the area of expertise will provide:

• engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems
• effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
• thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
• continuous improvement of job-related, engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance
• effective oral and written communication skills
• accurate records and files
• support of the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an EAC/ABET accredited Engineering Program OR an approved evaluation of non-ABET credentials by NCEES OR graduation from a Master’s or Doctoral Program in Engineering from an institution with EAC/ABET accredited Undergraduate Engineering Programs.
• 2 to 4 years’ experience as a practicing engineer
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
• Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
• Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

The compensation range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $100,000.00.
